With heavy hearts we announce the sudden death of Linda June Dietz
on October 4, 2020 at the age of 77.
She was born on June 16, 1943 to Samuel and Elaine Taylor and grew
up in Detroit, attending Cody High School. Along with working
full-time through high school, she simultaneously attended classes
at Henry Ford Community College in Bookkeeping.
She married the love of her life, John, on September 7, 1963. She
was devoted to raising their three children until college years,
then went back to work as a Dental Assistant. They raised their
family in the Metro Detroit area, spending weekends and summers at
their cabin in Northern Michigan.
All through her life faith was a constant, never missing weekly mass
with a passion for music ministry. She was an active member and
leader of the folk group at St. Thomas More.
Throughout her life, friends and family benefited from her sharp
mind, quick wit and her generous loving heart. We will remember her
most for her ministry of hospitality. She was a central figure in
gathering friends and family to her home and making a space to come
together; always doing this with a warm heart. Linda had a humble
spirit, fostering acceptance and independence while reserving
judgement. Most important to Linda was family. Daily phone calls,
visits to her children, never missing a birthday, anniversary, and
checking up on anyone going through rough times. She was always sure
to say “I Love You” at the end of every single call.
She is survived by loving husband, John, of 57 years, their three
children - Scott Dietz, Camarillo, CA, Lisa Shine (Tim) Wheaton, IL,
Julie Smith (Brad) Copley, OH and seven grandchildren - Julianna and
Megan Dietz; Emma, Julia, Sarah Shine; Ben and Maria Smith; and
sister Nancy Hurd (Bill) Delray Beach, FL.
Visitation will be at A.J. Desmond & Sons 2600 Crooks Road, Troy, MI

10th, 2020 – 12:30pm at St. Thomas More Church, 4580 North Adams
