Celebrate a once in a lifetime
Birthday 1806 - 2006 at Rome Bicentennial Days.
One of the many things that we will be doing that day
is taking a 14.5-mile bike ride.
The ride will start off at 9:15 a.m. at the Rome Fire
Hall. The tour will include the Roaming Shores area.
The cost is $15 person, and riders will receive
a visor hat and a voucher for eating breakfast prior to the ride, then
have lunch after the ride.
Guidelines for Bike Ride:
1. Minimum age requirement is 12 years old.
2. Pre-registration is required. Contact Margie Darling (440)
563-5301.
3. Riders will be required to sign a disclaimer and release form and
pay the $15. (Look for the table that has the sign Rome
Bicentennial Bike Ride.)
Bicentennial Breakfast 8 to 11 a.m. at the Rome Fire
Hall. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Menu
includes Pancakes, eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast and coffee, tea or
milk.
"Games from the past" will be a part of the
Bicentennial in Rome Twp. on Aug. 5th. Learn marbles, croquet,
hop-scotch, hula-hoops, and horseshoe pitching. There will also
be kickball and an inflatable jumping game. Join the many fun
activities while you learn of the township's 200 year history.
Enjoy the music by the Erie Heights Brass Ensemble and
Marian Alderman, or try your hand at square dancing at the Rome
Bicentennial on Aug. 5th.
Music will be provided throughout the day along with
other "era displays", antique cars and tractors, lots of food, and
township memorabilia from our 200 year history.
Join us Saturday and Sunday for the Bicentennial
events at the Rome Fire Hall.
Sunday at the Rome Township Bicentennial includes
breakfast at the Fire Hall from 8 to 11 a.m., the community church
service at 11 a.m. at the Historic Presbyterian Church, and the
burying of the time capsule at the township veteran's memorial.
