Noble Twp. -
ELISHA NOBLE (for whom the township was
named) was born in 1782, and came here in 1836. He served
as commissioner of Mercer County before the erection of Auglaize
County. It is said that the pay he received as
commissioner was scarcely sufficient to pay his land tax.
He was also a commissioner of Auglaize County. His death
occurred in 1864, while his wife died the previous year.
