ROSS TOWNSHIP THIS
township originally embraced all of what is now Morgan as well as its
present territory. It was organized in 1803, forming one of the
original subdivisions of the county. Morgan Township was struck
off of the west end of 1811. There are in its limits 19,496 acres.
The population of the township in 1820 was sixteen hundred and
sixty-five; 1830, seventeen hundred and forty-five; 1840, fifteen
hundred and twenty-six. Since its organization up to 1844, the
following persons have been justices of the peace; their names will also
show to a very great extent who the prominent early settlers were:
