Dated: July 3, 1863
A woman was stung to death by bees at Unity, Columbiana
county, Ohio, on the 8th inst. Her children had
tormented the bees with a stick and they flew at the lady in
such numbers and stung her so fiercely that she lived only
fifteen minutes. |

DEATH OF MRS. S. W. BARTGES'S FATHER.
The Millersburg Farmer has the following
about the father of Mrs. S. W. Bartges, of this city:
"On Friday evening of last week that old veteran Democrat,
Alfred CRUMP, while passing from one room to another
was so unfortunate as to fall down fracturing the thigh bone
where it enters the socket of the right thigh. He
departed this life at his residence in Millersburg, Tuesday
morning, Sept. 8th, in the 92d year of his age.
Alfred CRUMP was born in Fairfax County, Virginia, March
3, 1794, and consequently is now in his 92d year. He
went to Baltimore when twelve years of age, and from there
to Taneytown, Maryland, in 1819; afterwards, in 1822, going
to West Virginia. In 1832 he located on a farm in
Columbiana County, Ohio, and in 1845 went to Delaware, Ohio,
and in 1845 went to Delaware, Ohio, where he kept a hotel.
From there he went to Wooster, and located in Millersburg in
1849, where he has resided ever since. Mr. CRUMP
was a soldier of the war of 1812, and the only survivor
of that war in this section. He was a thorough
Democrat and always voted the straight ticket without a
scratch. He cast his first vote for President in 1816,
and has never missed a Presidential election since. |

held Thursday for Peter A. Maley, 69, this village's
last Spanish-America War Veteran. Four daughters and
three sons survive. |
