Illinois Date: Apr. 2, 1892 Hanged the Last Negro a Mob Lynches the Only Colored Man in Holmes County, Ohio. MILLERSBURG, Ohio, April 1. - This morning a mob lynched an unknown negro, hanging him to a tree. He had been about the town a few weeks, and had been ordered to leave. He had lingered about people's door steps and annoyed them in various ways. There are supposed to be no negroes in Holmes County. Nothing is known of the victim's history, not even his name.
