Hanktown Negro Cemetery

This cemetery is the final
resting place for some of the ex-slaves of John Randolph, of
Roanoke, Virginia. It is located on State Route 571, 3.3 miles
west of the intersection of S. R. 48 and 571, in Union Township, Miami
County, Ohio.
Negro Civil War Veterans, who are buried 300
years to the north in what is commonly known as Brown Cemetery.
As far as is known, these men were buried there as a place of honor.
They were the only persons buried there. On July 4th, 1978, the
last four stones were unearthed, after a diligent search, and moved to
the Hanktown Cemetery by Kurtis King, as an Eagle Scout project.
