---
There is a cemetery on the infirmary grounds which dates
back to the late 1830's. Graves were marked with
wooden crosses. One day when a man was raking
leaves he set them on fire and also burned the wooden
crosses. The general area is known and a marker is
planned. Exact location of graves, however, is not
known.
In some of the death records, the place of burial is mentioned but
in others it is not. There is the possibility that any of those not specified as being
buried elsewhere, are buried
in the infirmary cemetery. In later years, residents who were ill were moved to rest homes or the hospital and probably
died there. Since there were no funeral home records and the newspapers didn't carry many deaths in the early 1800's,
there is no record for this time. The last burial in the infirmary cemetery recorded here is in 1942. Here are
those known deaths at the infirmary but there may be others:

NOTES:
Note 1: Per Marlene Ressler of Preble County

says Samuel was a Reverend and his middle name was Leander.
There was a child, Samuel, that also died that year in the
infirmary who was the Grandson to Samuel L. and is buried at
Mound Hill. This family can be found at
