In Jefferson Tp. [PAPER
TOWN]
Land Agents and real
estate speculators are acquainted with the phrase "paper towns."
On the 8th of June, 1832, William Walt appeared before
Isaac Stephens, J. P., and acknowledged the signing of a
"plat and survey to be his voluntary act and deed, for the uses
and purposes therein mentioned." Upon his plat forty lots
were represented, but whether he afterwards sold any or not, the
writer is uninformed. At any rate the town is "houseless."
However the compiler supposes that Mr. Walt acted in good
faith, and if the people would not build upon his lots after he
laid them out, it was not his fault that the "enterprise"
failed.
