An enterprising little
village, situated on the P. C. & St. L. R. R., about two miles
east of Eldorado. Founded by Otho Brumbaugh, S. G.
Landis, and J. Studybaker. Plat recorded May 1,
1853. Additions, afterwards by John Leas and
Thomas F. Quill. Samuel Landis laid out all the
lots north of the railroad, except the recent additions by
Leas & Quill. The first house built was the depot and
warehouse, at present occupied by A. & A. Leas as a
General Store, Post Office, Grain Warehouse and Railroad Office.
The Post Office is known as West Manchester.
