St. Clairsville Twp. -
DAVID JENNINGS - Was a member of the Belmont
county bar for a number of years. He was admit in 1813.
Was appointed prosecuting attorney in 1815, serving in that capacity
until 1825. In that year he was elected a member of Congress
where he remained until 1826. He was a brother of Obediah
Jennings who quite the practice of law and turned his talent to
preaching as a Presbyterian. He had a debate with Alexander
Campbell, the founder of the Disciples' Church.

St. Clairsville Twp. -
HUGH J. JEWETT, President of the Erie
Railroad, New York, studied law and resided in St. Clairsville for a
number of years. He was admitted to the bar in 1839.
From here he removed to Zanesville, where he became connected with
railroad interests. IN 1861 he was the Democratic candidate
for Governor of Ohio. He has since been elected to the
Legislature and also to Congress.

Bellaire -
EDWARD JONES, JR., was born in England in
1840. Was brought to America in 1841, and received his
education in the Wheeling schools. He learned the blacksmith
trade and worked eight years at it in that city. Came to
Bellaire in 1867, and commenced work in the Bellaire Nail Works,
where he has remained ever since. In 1862 hemarried
Margaret C., daughter of Robert Dinsmore, of Lewis
county, W. Va.

St. Clairsville Twp. -
WILMUTH JONES
He migrated from Washington county, Pennsylvania, in about 1816, and
was made a Mason in this lodge soon after his settlement. He
attained to the degree of Royal Arch Mason. He held prominent
places in this lodge, and was sent to the grand lodge as
representative, in which body he tilled important positions on
committees. He died here in 1862, greatly esteemed by his
acquaintances.
