always one of the regular and happiest attendants at the
annual reunions of the Association.
His death, at his home, near Waynesville, Ohio, was a
sad tragedy, that carried mourning and excruciating
grief into many households and hearts. His record,
so far as can be ascertained, in the navy was an
honorable one, and of which Mr. Hoel was justly
proud. His private life was a pure and good one.
His name is now added to the long list of those who went
forth to battle for the glorious Union.

Frank Ernst
-----
CAPTAIN FRANK ERNST
died in Cincinnati in the fall of 1878. His rank,
according to the records of the Society by his own
signature, was that of captain and commissary of
subsistence of volunteers. He was long a citizen
of Cincinnati, and was noted for a warm, sunshiny
disposition, and love of social intercourse with his
friends. His last illness was a long and painful
one, and when the last moment of life came, Captain
Ernst fell asleep without a pain, and unconscious of
all earthly things.
