LOUIS C. JAMISON. Our subject is a son of
Alexander Jamison, a native of Virginia, and a
grandson of John Jamison, who emigrated from
Ireland when a young man. His mother's maiden name was
Polly Jones. His parents were married early in
the present century.
They had four children, of whom Louis was the only son.
His father enlisted in the War of 1812, and remained in
that service until during the year 1814; he died of camp
fever on the same day he was discharged. Afterwards, his
mother married James Hancock, with whom the
whole family emigrated from Virginia to Union Township, this
County.
Louis C. is now the only survivor of the entire
family. He was born December 25, 1813, married Miss
Christiana Shaub, June 24, 1841, and settled soon after
on the farm they now own and occupy, in Liberty Township,
where their children have been born, and which, by the hand
of skill and industry, they have fitted up comfortably and
handsomely. Of six children, two sons and two daughters are
yet living, viz: Milton B., Nira A., Alexander S.,
and Emma E. The first named served about three years
in the late war against rebellion, and since the war married
Miss Lydia Emerson, of Concord, and is now a thriving
physician at Fredonia, this County. The second son married
Miss Abbie M. Woodbury, and they are now taking care
of those parents and the old homestead.
