Mustered out with 77th Regiment Mar. 8, 1866, at Brownsville, Tex.  At muster out was offered a commission in a colored regiment and declined it.  In 1884 he was Lieutenant Colonel of the 14th Regiment O. N. G., and was in command of the right wing of that regiment, and cleared the streets of Cincinnati of the mob in front of the court house when it was burned April, 1884, and was shot through the calf of the left leg at that time.  Has been Regent of the State University of Minnesota, and is now Chairman of the Railroad Commission of that State.  St. Paul, Minn.
