Four
Generations of service as exemple ___ in the lives
of Drs. Nathan, Salathial, Warren S. and Harold
Williams.
Dr. Nathan Williams, the first of the line of
physicians was born in Fayette County, Penn., 1811.
When young his father died and Nathan was compelled
to care for himself. He attended subscription
schools, studying at night while working on farms in
the daytime. He studied medicine at
Connellsville and in 1831 married Lydia Eicher
He removed to Morrow County, Ohio, and later to
Defiance County, Ohio, and finally to Kendallville,
Indiana. HE died Nov. 20, 1892. His son,
Salathiel was born at Mt. Gilead, Morrow Co.,
Ohio in 1836. He was educated in medicine in
Ohio and practiced with his father in Defiance
County, Ohio, before coming to Kendallville,
Indiana. He was married to Mary E. Lehmanin
Defiance County. He was associated with his
father, Nathan, in the practice of medicine
in Kendallville, but he served in the civil war from
Defiance County, Ohio, coming to Kendallville in
1865. His note book has been copied, and the
only regret in connection with it is that it was
not continued to a greater length. He kept a
record of births commencing in Defiance Co. O. and
continuing after his coming to Kendallville.
This was continued by his son Dr. Warren Williams
and has proved of great value to persons desirous of
proving the date of their birth
Dr. S _ Williams died Apr. 30, 1892.
Dr. Warren Williams, son of Dr. Salathiel __
Williams was born in Brunersburg, Defiance Co.,
Ohio, in 1862. After graduating from Western
Reserve Medical School he entered into practice with
his father in Kendallville. He was noted as a
very fine obstetrician as well as a physician in
other branches of medicine. His kind sincere
ways in the sick room endeared him to his patients
and his popularity is evinced by the number of boys
named for him.
Dr. W. S. Williams died Jan. 25, 1914.
He was followed by his son, Harold who at
present in one of the leading physician in
Kendallville.
These birth records, also the note book of Dr.
Salathiel Williams with permission of Mrs.
Warren S. Williams, widow of Dr. W. S.
Williams, and Miss Lucile Williams
daughter of Dr. __. S. Williams, and in whose
possession the records are at this time. 1884 -
