In Lawrence County, Ohio an aged and feeble gentleman has
for some time past held the office of County Recorder; but owing
to his infirmities, the duties of his office have been
transacted by his daughters, during several years past.
The old gentleman died recently - and at the late election,
Captain Kerr proposed to be a candidate for the office; and
that if elected, he would do the business by proxy - let the
daughters of the old Recorder do the business and receive all
the pay. It is said to he received nearly all the votes.

CHARLES G. KILGORE was shot by Wm. Henderson,
an inmate of the Lawrence County, Ohio Infirmary, last Thursday
night and died the following evening. It appears that for
some time past depredations had been committed on the building,
and the keeper had placed Henderson on guard. On
this occasion Kilgore came into the yard before the
keeper had retired, and hearing a noise, the latter notified
Henderson Henderson, who went to the door, and as Kilgore
came up the steps shot him.
