Centre Twp. -
ARTHUR OKEY - Is a native of Monroe county, Ohio, having been born in Woodsfield, Nov. 3, 1822.  His parents were Cornelius and Hannah Okey.  His wife, whom he married at Woodsfield, Apr. 26, 1849, was Nancy McLelland.  She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, May 30, 1830, and is a daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Uler) McLelland.  Children: Franklin, born Mar. 14, 1850, died Aug. 19, 1852; Robert C., born June 17, 1852; Sophronia, Sept. 24, 1854, died Dec. 24, 1857; Hattie R., Apr. 29, 1859; Bell, Dec. 26, 1861; Lou, Jan. 24, 1866; Maggie F., Oct. 28, 1872.  All living reside in Woodsfield.  Mr. Okey was elected to the office of county surveyor in 1880, which office he now fills.  Address, Woodsfield, Monroe county, Ohio.

Bethel Twp. -
GEORGE OKEY - was born in Monroe county, Ohio, Apr. 5, 1816.  He is a son of Woodman Okey and Catherine Lemley.  They both died in Monroe county.  Mr. Okey's wife was Rachel A. Mann, whom he married in Bethel township,, Apr. 6, 1876.  Mr. Okey was born in Belmont county, Sept. 14, 1837.  Her father's name was David Mann, and her mother's Sarah Johnson.   They both died in Belmont county, Ohio.  Mr. Okey was engaged in the war of the rebellion; served in the 4th California Volunteer Infantry.  His son was also in the service, in the 116th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.  Mr. Okey was sheriff in Marshall county, California, for twenty-five years.  Mr. Okey's son, Emanuel, was taken prisoner and kept in Andersonville until he was nearly starved to death before he was exchanged.  He was blown up on one of the transports, and thrown into the water; he tried to swim ashore, but was so blinded by the explosion that he could not reach there, and was captured.  George Okey, the subject of this sketch, was in the Indian part of the rebellion, and was most of the time in Arizona; went to California in 1850, prospecting.  He found some of the best mining country in the State.  He has a farm in Monroe county of about eighty acres.  The first wife was Elizabeth Rucker, daughter of John Rucker and Sarah Jenning.  Their children were: Catherine, born in 1841; Woodman, in 1845; Charlie, in 1846; Emanuel, Oct. 12, 1837, died 1865.  Mr. George Okey, the subject of this sketch, in politics is a Republican and a true patriot to this country - while he mourns the loss of his son was yet willing to lose all to save the government.  He has traveled extensively, and still likes Ohio, the place of his birth.  Has always been a hardworking man, and has become somewhat afflicted.   Has seen all of the trials and vicissitudes of pioneer life in Monroe county for about fifty-five years.  Occupation, farmer and stock-raiser.  Address, Masterton, Monroe county, Ohio.

Sunsbury Twp. -
W. ORN - is a resident of Sunsbury township, where he is engaged in the business of farming and stock-raising.  He was born in Pennsylvania, Apr. 4, 1808, and came to this county in March, 1821.  His parents were John Orn, and Prudence Sunally, who came into the county in March, 1821.  Mr. Orn's wife was Mary Baker, to whom he was married in Sunsbury township Apr. 14, 1836.  Mr. Orn was born in West Virginia, Apr. 9, 1817.  Her parents were Meshick and Elizabeth Baker.  The children of Mr. and Mrs. Orn are: Elizabeth King, born Feb. 28, 1837, lives in Sunsbury township; Prudence (O'Reiley), Jan. 10, 1839, lives in Beallsville, Ohio; John, June 19, 1841, died Dec. 14, 1842; William Parr, Feb. 2, 1844,died Aug. 18,1844; Thomas J., Sept. 28, 1846, died Jan. 31, 1848; Francis M., June 29, 1849, lives in Sunsbury township; Mary Jane, Apr. 27, 1853, lives in Sunsbury township; Johnson, Feb. 1, 1857, lives in Sunsbury township.  Mr. Orn's postoffice address is Beallsville, Monroe county, Ohio.
