Taylor Twp. -
THOMAS YEARSLEY, farmer, P. O. Broadway.
Our subject is one of the oldest settlers of Taylor
Township, Union County, Ohio. He was born in
Chester County, Penn., Dec. 23, 1819, and is a son
of Thomas and Sarah Yearsley. Thomas,
the father of our subject, was born in Chester
County, Penn., Aug. 23, 1790, and Sarah, his
first wife, was born in the same place, Oct. 9,
1789. She died in Chester County Mar. 17,
1834, and he remained a widower until Jan. 6, 1836,
when he was united in marriage with Mary Hawley.
He removed with his wife and three of the youngest
children, to Union County, Ohio, in 1853, and on the
28th day of June, 1854, he died being in his
sixty-fourth year; his second wife died on the 18th
day of July, 1870. Our subject came to Union
County, Ohio, in 1849, and settled where he now
resides. He was united in marriage Oct. 18,
1860, with Sarah Green, a native of New York,
born Aug. 3, 1833. He first engaged in the
latter, and owns, at this time, 176 acres of land in
a high state of cultivation. He acquired a
common school education, and has filled the office
of Township Trustee of Taylor Township. His
wife is a member of the Free-Will Baptist Church;
she was formerly a member of the Christian Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Yearsley are the parents of
seven children, of whom six survive - Albin,
Joseph, Ada, Burton, Mary and Emma.

Taylor Twp. -
MRS. CLIMENIA E. YONKIN,
Postmistress, Broadway. The subject of this
sketch is a widow, residing in Broadway, Ohio, who
was born in Delaware County, Ohio, Sept. 3, 1833,
and is a daughter of Newton and Azubah Case,
whose sketch appears in this work. Mrs.
Yonking was united in marriage, Oct. 21, 1855,
with William Yonkin, who was engaged in
farming. She is the mother of four children,
of whom one survives - Jessie B., born July
6, 1860; the deceased are James P., born June
19, 1856, and died Oct. 14, 1861; Francis I.,
born Mar. 18, 1858, and died Apr. 4, 1859, and
Clara E., born Feb. 27, 1863, and died Mar. 31,
1880. Mrs. Yonkin is filling the
position of Postmistress of Broadway, Ohio, where
she owns property. She has been a member of
the Free-Will Baptist Church for twenty years, and
is much respected by all her acquaintance.

Taylor Twp. -
ALPHONZO YOUNG, farmer, P. O.
Marysville, was born in Ashtabula County, Ohio, Mar.
7, 1837, and is a son of Seth and Abigail Young.
Mr. Young, Sr., was born in Connecticut, and his
wife was born in Ashtabula County, Ohio; they were
married in Ohio, to which State he emigrated when
nineteen years of age. Alphonzo was
united in marriage, Nov. 15, 1860, with Martha E.
Newlove, who was born in Clark County, Ohio,
Nov. 26, 1835. He has been engaged in faring
and teaching school most of his life, and now owns
fifty acres of land, where he resides. He
acquired a common school education, and is a member
of the I. O.O. F. fraternity. Mr. and Mrs.
Young are the parents of five children - John
N., Mary Anna, Ansil, Capitola and Mattie.

Claibourne Twp.
MORGAN YOUNG, farmer, P. O.
Richwood, was born in Delaware County, Ohio, Sept.
27, 1837, and is a son of Elijah and Amy (Larkins)
Young, natives of Pennsylvania, of German
descent, and early settlers in Delaware County.
He was reared on a farm and received a limited
education, after which he began life for himself as
a hired hand, working by the month. He also
followed mining in California for two years entirely
by his own efforts. He is a Republican in
politics and a member of the Odd Fellows
society of Richwood. He was married Aug. 26,
1862, to Elenora Finch, by whom he had five
children, viz.: Frank, Ed., Vinnie, Vellie
and Otis M.
