Celebrated Their Golden Wedding.
FREMONT, Sept. 16. -
[Special.] - Mr. and Mrs. George Rimmelspacher
yesterday celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their
marriage. Special preparations for this event were
made. In the morning high mass was said for them
and they were remarried as they were half a century
before. In the evening several hundred guests
assembeled at the residence, where a supper was served.
Hon. Joseph Zimmerman on behalf of the assembled
guests presented the aged couple with a number of
beautiful and costly gifts. George
Rimmelspacher and Miss Elizabeth Gabel were
united in marriage at Tiffin Sept. 15, 1840, by Rev.
Mr. McSameal. The groom was born in Baden,
Mar. 28, 1812, and the bride in Alsace Apr. 14, 1818.
Both are pioneer residence of Sandusky county. Ten
of their fourteen children are now living. Mr.
and Mrs. Rimmelspacher have fortysix grandchildren.
All but two children reside in this county. |
