MACK EAKINS was born at
Pine Grove Furnace, Lawrence county, Ohio, Aug. 13, 1861. He
is the son of William C. and Susan (Chatfield) Eakins.
His great-grandfather came from Ireland and was one of the early
settlers in Adams county. William Eakins is the son of
a Thompsonian physician and has three brothers who are physicians.
Our subject received a common school education at the Franklin
Furnace school. He came to Sciotoville in 1887 and commenced
the mercantile business. In 1894, he and his father commenced
business under the name of W. C. Eakins & Son. They
have now a large business which is rapidly increasing. The son
is a republican and a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
On June 14, 1888, he married Amasetta Price. They have
two children, Eva and William.
