German Twp. -
DANIEL L. MILLER was
born in Bath Township, Allen County, Jan. 23, 1846.
His wife was born in Jackson Township, May 17, 1846.
They have five children: Hannah E., Solomon S., Mary
E., Lydia M., and George W. Mr. M. is a
son of Daniel and Mary Miller. His wife is
Matilda, daughter of Solomon and Hannah Smith.
Mr. Miller's brothers are Samuel, Joseph and
Isaac; his sisters are Sarah, Barbara and
Mary. Mrs. Miller has three brothers:
George, John, and William Smith; and three
sisters: Susan, Prudence and Nancy.

Amanda Twp. -
HENRY MILLER, son of
Jesse and Elizabeth Miller, was born in this county
in 1830. He is brother of Solomon,
Catharine, Jacob and Josiah. His
wife is a daughter of James and Susan Baber, who
came to Allen County in 1837. Mrs. Miller
was born in Ross County, in the year 1833.

Monroe Twp. -
SAMUEL M. MILLER was
born in this county, Jan. 12, 1844. His wife was
born in Rockingham County, Virginia, May 23, 1841.
Their only child is Clara May Miller. Mr.
Miller's parents came from Rockingham County,
Virginia, in the year 1839, and settled in this county.
They have ten children - Catharine, Sarah, Samuel M.,
Daniel L., John, Barbara, Mary, Jacob, Joseph and
Isaac. Mrs. Miller's parents John and
Hannah Sheets, lives in Indiana. Their
children are, David, Ann E. (Mrs. Miller),
Leanna, Francis E., Hannah C. and Sarah V.

Ottawa Twp. -
WILLIAM MILLER was
born in Germany, Mar. 27, 1831. His parents are
George J. and Anna Margaret Miller. His wife
is Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Bonhart and
Clara Bruther She was born in Louisville,
Kentucky, on the 9th of August, 1832. The children
of William and Elizabeth Miller are Daniel B.,
Cathrine, Frederick W., Caroline, George C., John L.,
Lewis G., Louisa P., Elizabeth R., Alexander Humboldt
and George W. Mr. M. has five brothers
- Philip, Godfrey, Michael, Jacob and Charles,
and three sisters - Elizabeth, Margaret and
Catharine. Mrs. M. has a sister
Harriett and one brother, John. Mr. Miller
has held the offices of constable, assessor and member
of Lima City Council, and is now sheriff of Allen
County.

Amanda
Twp. -
D. B. MITCHELL,
son of Matthew and Hannah Mitchell, was born in
Richland County in the year 1820. Robert, Kate,
Simeon, John, Torence and Hannah are his
brothers and sisters. He married Mary,
daughter of Enoch and Joanna Maryman, and sister
of Mrs. Lettie Butterfield. Mrs. M.'s
parents came to this county in 1874; he came to 1854.
Mrs. M. was born in Crawford County in 1823.
They have two children - Lettie and
Matthew.

JOSEPH A. MURRAY,
was born in Pennsylvania, Nov. 22, 1821. His
parents are John F. and Charity Murray, whose
children are, Charity, Thomas, Joseph a., William P.,
James, John, Mary Ann, Alexander K., George, Caroline
and Robert. Mr. Murray's first wife was
the mother of eight children - Robert, George, John,
Josiah, Erastus, Marion, Joseph and William.
His second wife has eight children - Rosella, Emma,
Jane, Loyd, Monroe, Meadlow, Horace and Lillie.
Mrs. Murray is distinguished for giving birth to
five boys within a period of eighteen months - four sons
at a single birth.

Shawnee
Twp. -
WILLIAM NAPIER, only son of
Joseph and Rebecca, was born in New York, in 1817,
and came to Allen County in 1843. Mrs. N.
was born in Trumbull County in 1818. Following are
the names of their living children, with the year in
which each was born: Adelia E. (1841),
Harriet B. (1843), H. H. (1845), Susan
(1847), Hillery C. (1849), Sarah (1854),
and Mary (1862); and the following are the names
of deceased children: Adelia (1859),
Amanda (1851), Charley (1858). Mrs.
Napier is a daughter of Adam and Anne Huff,
whose children are Jesse, Elizabeth, Peter, Sarah,
Susan, Mary and Samuel Huff. Mrs. N's
father died in Pennsylvania; her mother is living in
Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Mr. Napier is
a Justice of the Peace.

THOMAS J. NASH, son
of John and Jane Nash, was born in Fayette
County, Pennsylvania, May 4, 1834. His wife,
Harriet A., daughter of Vinal and Harriet N.
Baker, was born at Bath, Maine, June 6, 1839.
They have two children - Mary E. and Vina J.
Nash.

HENRY C. NEFF, born
in Marion County, June 20, 1846, came to this county
when only fourteen years old. His parents, John
G. and Catharine, came two years later. He
married Miss Jennie M. Mauk, daughter of
Michael and Margaret Mauk, who came from Muskingum
County in 1853. they have two children - Burt
L. and Blanche M. Mrs. N. was born in
Muskingum County, Sept. 27, 1850. Her brothers and
sisters: - Alva W., Stephen W., Francis M., Nancy A.,
Sarah E., Mary E. Mr. Neff's brothers and
sisters are Princess Olive, Alice L., Esther A.,
Howard L. and Harvey T.

SAMUEL NEISE
was born in Ashland County, Ohio, Aug. 30 1847.
His wife, Johanna, daughter of Darius and
Maranda Eader, was born in Frederick County, Md.,
29th May, 1830. Their children are Maranda E.,
Mary A., Clifton S., Charles O., and Frank M.
Mr. Neise's parents, Peter and Elizabeth,
came to this state from Lancaster, Penn., in 1826.

DAVID D. NICHOLAS
son of James and Mary, was born
in Sugar Creek Township, Allen County. His parents
came to the county in September, 1833. He has two
brothers and two sisters - Jane E., James, Richard
J., and Martha A. Mr. Nicholas has been
County Surveyor of Allen County seven years, and City
Engineer of Lima six years.

Sugar Creek
Twp. -
JAMES NICHOLAS,
son of James and Mary Nicholas, was born in
Butler County, Sept. 6, 1810. His wife was born in
the same year, in Montgomeryshire, North Wales.
Their children are Jane, James, Richard
(deceased), David D. and Martha Ann.
Mr. N. has three sisters - Martha, Sarah
and Ann. Mrs. N. has two sisters -
Elizabeth and Martha. She was Mary
Jones, daughter of Richard and Jane Jones.
Mr. A.'s parents were from South Wales. They
came into Allen County in 1835. Mr. Nicholas
came in 1833. At that time there were only
thirty-seven voters in a territory since carved into
four townships. Inhabitants were obliged to go
fifty miles to mill, and a hundred miles to market.
Mr. Nicholas has been justice of the peace for
forty years.

Marion Twp. -
DAVID NIEMEYER
and his wife were born in Europe; but during their
childhood were brought to this county. Mr. N.
was born in 1843, and is the son of Henry
and Elizabeth Niemeyer and the brother of
Mathias. Mrs. N. is the daughter of John
and Rosanna Clement, who had eight children.
Mr. Niemeyer has two children - Catherine
and Elizabeth.
