Coit, Jos. in 1812 com. capt. of co. that went out from Canfield; ordered to report to Gen. Hull at Detroit; learned of Hull's shameful surrender, and returned home with troops; made the first settlement at Ellsworth; died May 21, 1857.
Courtney, Nicholas, served through war of 1812 in Capt. Hill's co. 17th U. S. Inf.; e. at New Lisbon, Apr. 10, 1812; dis. at Detroit, Oct. 10, 1815; died at Ellsworth, June 7, 1877, aged 86 years.
Duncan, John, soldier war of 1812; died at Lordstown, O. Mar. 1853.
Hollingsworth, Elliott W., 2d lieut. in 2d Miss. Inf. Mexican war; e. at Greenwood, Miss. Apr. 1846; gunshot wound in right leg at Buena Vista; dis. at New Orleans, July 4, 1848.
Loveland, Amos, e. Oct. 4, 1777, served in 6th co. 3d and 5th brig. Vt. Vol. Inf. through all subsequent movements till the close of the war for independence; com. as ensign issued by "Thomas Chittenden, captain, general governor, and commander-in-chief in and over the state of Vermont;" took conspicuous part in battle of Monmouth, N. J.; was guard at the execution of the British spy, Major Andrew; died in Coitsville twp. Mahoning co. Dec. 25, 1851; buried there; was grandfather of the wife of Wm. W. Cover of Haselton.
Russell, Jas. W. was a soldier of war of 1812.
Ripley, Wm. served as general war of 1812; in 58 engagements.
Rook, Samuel, e. Feb. 10, 1847, corp. co. I, 2d U. S. Inf.; dis. Aug. 1848.
Sailehamer, Nicholas, came to America in 1770; served through the war foir independence; died in Franklin co. Pa. Oct. 17, 1822.
Williams, Robt. A. was in service in U. S. Inf. July, 1875, to July, 1880; corp.
