OHIO was
admitted to Statehood
on March 1, 1803 OHIO's State Flag
was adopted in 1902. The Ohio Burgee, as the swallowtail design is
properly called, was designed by JohnEisemann.
The large blue triangle represents Ohio's hills and valleys, and the
stripes represent the original states of the union; the 4 stars added to
the peak of the triangle symbolize that Ohio was the 17th state admitted
to the union. The white circle with its red center not only
represents the "O" in Ohio, but also suggests Ohio's famous nickname,
"The Buckeye State"
The origin of
state's name
was from the Iroquois Indian word for "good river".

IN MEMORIAL:
I discovered some very sad news:
I had two helpers when I first started this website.
Their names were Nancy Boyd Hannah
and Linda Blue Dietz. They both decided they could not work on the website any more
and so I kept them as friends on my FaceBook.
I haven't talked to them much since I moved to Illinois (temporarily)
so I didn't know.
I decided to chat with Linda and found that she had passed away!
So I decided to tell Nancy about it and found
She had passed away as well.
I knew Linda was in bad health but I had no idea that Nancy may have
been in bad health as well.
I am in shock.
May they both Rest in Peace.
And my prayers go out to their families for healing.
