Today... I feel a little better and decided to put on a few things including a little history for Rockbridge Co., Virginia.
I can't work too long at a time as I had a major surgery on March 26th and I am healing.   It took about 3 days to transcribe at small intervals. 
I just missed having a bout with the "C" word.  The doctor got it all.  I am having my worse time not being able to work full steam ahead on this site for all of you.  But if you know me by now.   I will (in the words of that one comedian) Git er' done. lol.  Go to the doctor on Friday next and see how I am progressing.

Went to doctor and he said he couldn't believe how quickly I am healing.  :-)
Then Jim & I went to Steak & Shake to eat lunch and after that we went to Lowes and I walked the whole store.  Was kind of tired after that and when he went to KMart I stayed in the car and rested.
Later on I went to the store and saw an old friend and he asked me about helping with his family tree.  I worked on it until the wee hours of the morning until I was totally exhausted.
All in all it was a very good day!

Oh JOY!!!  My niece brought 9 cushions for her patio furniture to me to re-cover for Memorial Day.  9!!!   It took me 10 hours to finish 7 of them and mom hand-sewed the bottoms and backs of them where I put the stuffing back in.  
Therefore, I didn't get much done here today.
I will have to do the other 2 cushions when my niece gets more fabric.

SUMMER BEGINS

Will be driving back to Ohio and won't be updating today.  Took mom on nostalgic ride around town to the old places we lived and let her see all the new buildings and hotel in downtown Peoria.  Then we ate at a restaurant that she said she went to about 25 years ago with a friend.  She really enjoyed it.  We had a waiter that was a young college man probably in his twenties.  He was from Jordan.   (Jordanian) Very good waiter. Was a very nice day and I packed when I got home for my trip.

DAY OFF...
Visited son in Parma, Ohio.  He took me to Holmes County, (Amish) Ohio and we went to an antique shop (huge place) and then to a famous hardware store where I purchased orange-cream soda and Earp Sasparilla soda.   Then we went to the Chalet in the Valley at Millersburg, Ohio.  Long drive but well worth the nice time.   I spent the night at Michael's house.

Came home from Michael's house after we went to a place called Rockne's and had a nice lunch.  Had a flat tire on the way home and a wonderful highway patrolman changed my tire for me.  I am so blessed!

Went to the D-Day Re-enactment here in Conneaut, Ohio.  It is an annual event.  There were approx 1400 re-enactors.  3 fighter planes and a larger plane  pretending to bomb the Germans.  There must have been over 12 boatloads of soldiers landing on the Beach of Lake Erie down at the park which is a half mile from my house.  It was awesome.

Just found out my cousin, Paula, passed away in a fatal motorcycle accident.  It has kind of made me too sad to work on the website tonight....
She was one of the few family members I have left other than my siblings children and my mother.  Thankfully my 96 year old mother is still here.  She will be 97 years old next month.
I do have my cousin's children to keep in touch with.
Paula's husband is in icu with very slim chance of survival.

Traveled to Illinois (550 miles) to be with my 97 year old Mother who had a Mini Stroke.  She lost her memory temporarily and her control of speech.

Brought Mom home and she is trying to be normal but is not quite up to par yet.  Will be staying with her until I feel it is safe to leave her.

STARTED WORKING A LITTLE  on MILITARY RECORDS but she is number one in the care department.  I will try to work on the website a little more each day as I know she is getting better.

Took mom to my niece's house for Thanksgiving Dinner.  Was wonderful spending time with family.
Mom got pretty tired but we went to get her dog from the dog sitter and he is happily sleeping next to her bed where she is taking a nap.  (with a full tummy)  :-)

WE MUST TAKE CARE OF OUR FAMILY THAT IS AMONG THE LIVING FIRST.   THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE US CAN WAIT.

Still watching over my son in the hospital.  Haven't had time nor a place to work on the website.  I will be back very soon.  Just got to get him well!
I did drive down Bourbon street at night on the 26th and it was total madness.  Wall to wall people EVERYWHERE.   I don't think I will be wanting to come back here soon.  I am, however, going to visit at least one of the cemeteries here because they are so awesome looking.
