G. F. Eshenroder
GEORGE FREDERICK ESHENRODER.  More than half of the lawyers now practicing at the Erie County Bar were born in this county.  Among this number is George Frederick Eshenroder, who was born on a farm east of Kimball, Nov. 7, 1862.  His father, William Eshenroder, was a German who came originally from Nassau, Germany.  His mother came from Oswego, New York, and became a resident of this county when about seven years old, making the trip by canal boat and sail boat on the Erie Canal and Lake Erie.  Shortly after the death of his father his mother bought a brick house at Cookes' Corners, now North Monroeville.  After living there a year or two, she moved to Forest, Ohio, where Mr. Eshenroder attended school, afterwards returning to Kimball and later moving to Milan, where he attended the Normal School.  After finishing school, he began the study of law with W. W. Bowen at Sandusky, and later took a law course at Ada, being admitted to the bar in 1894.  During his course of study he supported himself by farming and soliciting insurance.  He began the practice of law at Milan and later removed to Sandusky, where he has practiced until the present time.  He never held a public office except that of township clerk of Milan for one term.  Politically, he has been a Republican and was once or twice a candidate of his party for local offices.  He is a member of Marks Lodge I. O. O. F. at Milan, and a Blue Lodge Mason of No. 339 F. & A. M.., Milan, Ohio.  He also belongs to the I. O. O. F. Encampment at Sandusky, Ohio, and for two years represented Erie County at the Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows.  He is not remarried, which has arisen from no fault on his part.  Like many lawyers, professional success did not come to him without a hard struggle, but he is now the possessor of an established practice of a general nature.
