H. C. Hickox |
HENRY C. HICKOX,
carpenter, farmer and school teacher, was ushered into the world on
the 26th day of July, 1856, in West Chester, Tuscarawas county,
Ohio. When fourteen years of age our subject's parents moved
to Mecca township, where he has since made his home. Being of
an educational turn of mind he early turned his attention to
teaching, which occupation he followed winters for twenty-three
years continuously. When a boy Mr. H. began learning
the carpenter trade of his father, and has followed that business
ever since in addition to carrying on his farm on the west township
line of Mecca. Sept. 8, 1880, our subject was married to
Miss Nancy Lechleitner, of Champion, O. First children
have been born to this union. Mr. H. is a republican,
and a member of I. O. O. F. In the three important and useful
occupations in which our subject has been engaged, he has shown
marked ability and won a deserved reputation for uprightness and
fidelity.
