Thos. B. Webb
THOMAS B. WEBB.  Since 1889 the subject of this sketch has held the office of sanitary policeman and food inspector, and he has performed the duties of that office in a most creditable and satisfactory manner, as it evidenced by the fact that his salary has twice been raised.  Mr. Webb was born in Knaresborough, Yorkshire, England, Sept. 13, 1853.  His father, John, was born in 1829, and his mother, Mary, in 1830, both being natives of Ireland.  Thomas B. attended the Christian Brothers school of Knaresborough, England, three years and his further education has been acquired by self-instruction.  He was married to Celia B. Cohen Aug. 24, 1874.  Since is the daughter of John and Mary Cohen, residents of this city.  Mr. and Mrs. W. are blessed with the following children, in order of birth, as follows:  John H., Mary, Ellen, Margaret J. (deceased), Cecelia, Thomas E., Anna and Genevieve  Our subject is a member of the Emerald Beneficial Association, of which he became a charter member nineteen years ago.  At the age of fifteen Mr. Webb began learning the mason's trade, which he followed till 1871, when he came to America.  He landed in New York and followed his trade in that city nearly a year and then came to Youngstown to visit an only sister.  Having decided upon remaining in this locality he found employment with Wm. Richards, in the blast furnace at Girard, where he remained a short time and then came to Warren, where he continued to work for the same employer from April, 1872, till the final shut-down of the works in 1873.  After that time he has mainly worked at his trade, and became a contractor, which he followed until elected to his present office in 1889.
