PARMELEE EELLS; manufacturer;
born, Cleveland, June 16, 1855; son of Dan P. and
May M. Howard Eells; A. B., Hamilton College,
1876; A. B., Harvard University, 1877; married,
Cleveland, Apr. 20, 1881, Alice Maude-Overton;
issue two children; second marriage; Cleveland, Nov.
11, 1889, Maud Stager; issue five children;
Republican; pres. 1896-1911, and now chairman of
board, Bucyrus Company, manufacturers of dredges,
steam shovels, etc.; said company furnishing
three-fourths of the excavating machinery used in
the construction of the Panama Canal; pres. Atchison
& Eastern Bridge Co., Chicago Drop Forge & Foundry
Co., Harlan Stone Co., New England Bldg. Co.;
director Superior Savings & Trust Co., and National
City Bank, Cleveland, and Portland Cement Co.,
Sandusky, O.; pres. National Metal Trades Ass'n,
1909-1910 (trustee 1908-1912), treas. and trustee
Cleveland Humane Society; treas. Cleveland
Protestant Orphan Asylum, and Western Reserve
University; University School, Lake View Cemetery

private schools, Cleveland; pres. Toledo Railways &
Light Co., Northern Ohio Traction & Light Co.,
London St. R. R., London, Can.; chairman board of
the Detroit United R. R.; interested in numerous
corporations, telephone and traction companies;
member Union, Euclid, Century, Colonial, and
Electric Clubs

SYLVESTER T. EVERETT;
financier; born, Liberty, O., Nov. 27, 1838; son of
Henry and Sarah von Pheil Everett; early
education in district schools and Cleveland public
schools; married, first time, January, 1860, Miss
Mary Everett of Philadelphia; issue, four
children; second marriage, Oct. 22, 1879, Alice
Louise Wade, issue, two sons and three
daughters; one of the sons, Homer, deceased;
business career, messenger boy, clerk, supt. Oil
Company, in Pennsylvania, 1868; came back to
Cleveland, in banking position, 1876; vice pres. and
gen. mgr. Second National bank; pres. until
1882; founded National Bank of Commerce; retired
from banking business in 1900, to devote time to
private interests; interested Cleveland Rolling Mill
Co., Little Consolidated Street B. B. Co., and the
Cleveland Railway Co.; promoted and built many
street and electric railroads; director the Citizens
Savings & Trust Co.; large mining interests in North
Carolina, Wisconsin and Michigan; prominent figure
in Republican politics in the state and city; for
fourteen years was city treasurer; owns several
country homes. Recreations: Travel, Biding,
Driving and Motoring in this country and Europe.
