Dated: September 30, 1880
A little girl named Cora Hoover living in
Allen County, was burned to death last Thursday afternoon.
She was standing near a fire where the folks were making apple
butter. The wind blowing the fire on her clothing, ignited
before assistance reached her. She was so severely burned
that she died soon afterwards.

Lilly
Frances Hennon
Miss
Lilly Frances Hennon, 70, of 444 S. .lackson-st, former grocery
stoic proprietor, died Friday morning at the home of a niece,
Mrs. Miles Swan, 440 S. .Jackson-st. She had been ill a month.
Born in
Terre Haute
, lnd., she had resided in
Lima
for the past 60 years. She operated a grocery a number of years
ago in south
Lima
with her brother. Surviving are four sisters. Mrs. Anna Miller,
1003 E. Second-st, Mrs. Rose Dixson,
Warren
. Mrs. Beatrice Allison, Battle Creek, Mich., Mrs. Mary Conrad,
Lima Route 5, and three brothers, George, of Flint, Thomas, of
Monticello, and James, of Ft. Wayne. Funeral services will be
conducted at 10:30 a. m. Monday at the Siferd and Son funeral
home. Burial will be in
Shawnee
cemetery. The body will remain at the S. Main-st mortuary.

Jesse M. Howell Jr.
Jesse
M. Howell Jr., 55, 2550 W. Market st., died at 2:25 p.m. Sunday
in the emergency room at
Lima
Memorial
Hospital
of an apparent heart attack. He was born Sept. 17, 1923 in
Allen
County
, the son of Jesse M. and Violet B. Adams Howell Sr. His mother
survives at
790 S. Main St
. On june 4, 1947, he married Mary Louise Furry, who survives.
Mr. Howell was a cost accountant supervisor at Clark Equipment
for 36 years. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church,
the National Association of Accountants and a veteran of World
War II. Survivors include a son, four daughters. two
granddaughters, and a sister, Mrs. Steve (Virginia) Studenka of
1620 Hume Road. Service arrangements are pending at Bayliff and
Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Burial will be in Memorial Park
Cemetery.

Jess
M. Howell Sr., 58. of
1720 W. Hume Rd.
. died at 1 p.m. Tuesday in his home shortly after being
stricken with a heart attack. He had been in failing health
several months. Mr
Howell was born Sept 25, 1898 in
Auglaize
County
son of Samuel M and Lillie Thompson
Howell. He
was married Sept 13, 1918 to Violet B. Adams, who survives. AIso
surviving are two sons Jeese M. Jr. of 1795 JoJean Rd., and
Donald L of 507 S. Cable Rd., a daughter,
Mrs. Steve (Virgima)
Studenka of
2976 Freyer Rd., nine grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren;
two brothers. Sim H of Bellefontaine
and Herbert R of Rt. 4, Wapakoneta, and a sister, Mrs.
Mary McFilen of
Toledo. Mr. Howell was a retired farmer. Services will be 1:30 p
m Friday in Bayliff and Sons Funeral Home., Cridersville. with
Rev. Louis Hermanson officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may
call at the funeral home after 7:30 tonight.

Donald L. Howell
Donald L. Howell, 50, of
1468 Southwood Dr.
, died at 11:10 p.m. Saturday in
St.
Rita’s hospital following an extended illness. Born Sept. 29,
1925 in
Lima
, he was the son of Jess M. and Violet B. Adams Howell. His
mother survives at 2741 Wendell. Also surviving are his wife
Rosemary Cira Howell; two daughters, a son James Allen, at
home; a brother, Jesse of 2741 Wendell; a sister Mrs. Steve
(Virginia) Studenka of 1620 Hume Rd., and two grandchildren. Mr.
Howell was an employe at the Ford Motor Co., and was a member of
St. Charles Catholic Church and served in the Navy in World War
II. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at
St. Charles Catholic Church with burial in Gethsemani cemetery.
Friends mat call after 7 tonight at Hogenkamp-Murphy Funeral
Home. Wake services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home.
