The oldest man who ever lived in Guernsey county was Benjamin Berry, who died here in 1877.  In that year, the elderly people who remembered him in their childhood as a middle aged man during the War of 1812, made enquiry as to his age and ascertained that he was one hundred and eleven years old.  This news of course found incredulous hearers, some of whom examined the company roll of the company in which he served during the War of 1812, and his birth was given there as having occurred in 1765.  After the War of 1812 the company
