DAVID CORE - son of Moses and Elizabeth (Piles) Core, was born, as was also his wife, in Monongalia county, West Virginia, May 9, 1840.  He married, at their native place, Feb. 28, 1862, Rebecca E. Layton, born Feb. 13, 1844, daughter of Peter A. and Catharine (Liming) Layton.  He came into Putnam county in 1866.  His grandfather Core was a soldier in the war of the Revolution.  His two brothers, John and Christopher, served each three years in the war of 1861-65.  Mr. and Mrs. Core have eight children, namely: Olive, born Nov. 21, 1862; George, John 19, 1864; Layton, Apr. 3, 1867; Charles, Feb. 28, 169; Fannie, Sept. 7, 1871; Harry, Sept. 1, 1873; George, Sept. 18, 1875; Ida, Aug. 18, 1877.  Business, farming.
Postoffice, Columbus Grove.
