JOHN W. THOMAS -
son of William S. Thomas and Matilda E. Timmens,
was born in Ross county, Feb. 16, 1854, and came
here with his parents in 1861. He married,
Apr. 20, 1879, Ellen Miller born in Hancock
county, Aug. 14, 1861, daughter of Alexander and
Melissa Wise Miller. His brother, James
F., was born Jan. 10, 1860. Their father
served in the late war, in the Hundred Days'
service. Business, farming.

JOHN W. THOMAS, Sr.
- son of Jeptha and Ann (Williams) Thomas,
was born in North Wales, July 22, 1816, and was
married there in September, 1839, coming to this
county in 1845. His wife, Mary, whose
parents, Thomas and Elizabeth (Evans) Arthur,
came here in 1845, was born in North Wales, June 6,
1815. They have had eight children, five of
whom are living: Mary E., born Oct. 24,
1840, died July 21, 1845; Thomas W.,
June 25, 1846, lives in this county; Elizabeth A.,
July 27, 1849, lives in Delphos, Ohio; John W.,
Jan. 16, 1851, lives in this county; Edward,
Aug. 7, 1854; Sarah J., Aug. 7, 1857.
His wife died Jan. 19, 1880. His son,
William A., served in the war of the Rebellion.
Occupation, farming.
Address, Gomer, Allen county, Ohio.
