JAMES R. LAFFERTY
- farmer and stock-raiser in this township, whose
parents were John and Jane (Reed) Lafferty,
was born, Dec. 28, 1809, in Allegheny county,
Pennsylvania. His wife, Delia, daughter
of Andrew and Mary (Mason) Rambo, was born,
Nov. 1, 1823, in Beaver county, Pennsylvania.
They were married in the county of her birth, Dec.
14, 1841, and have had nine children: Elizabeth
J., born Feb. 19, 1843; Samuel R., Oct.
27, 1845, died Mar. 28, 1870; John R.,
June 30, 1848; James M. Nov .25, 1851;
Mary Ann, Aug. 24, 1854; Lucinda A., Nov.
6, 1856, died Oct. 3, 1874; Louis F.,
Dec. 25, 1859; George W., May 16, 1862;
Allen R., Dec. 14, 1834, died Mar. 26,
1870.

HENRY LEOPOLD -
son of Henry and Anna (Dopker) Leopold, was
born in the German Empire, Feb. 22, 1822, and came
to this county in 1842. He married, in 1857,
Mrs. Elizabeth Dickried, daughter of
Barnhard and Maria (Giere) Gosman, who was also
born in the German Empire, May 20, 1822. With
her first husband she is the mother of three
children, all residing in this county:
Bernhardina, born Oct. 3, 1848; Anna D.,
Aug. 11, 1850; Bernhard J., Feb. 14, 1855.
Three children have also been born in her second
marriage, all at home; Franklin born May 18,
1858; Elizabeth, July 3, 1860; Maria,
June 11, 1862. Occupation, farming.

JOSEPH LEOPOLD -
proprietor of warehouse in Ottawa, was born in
Glandorf, this county, Sept. 23, 1845. He is a
son of Bernard and Elizabeth Siemer Leopld
who came into the county in 1832. On the 4th
of April, 1871, he married Elizabeth Recker,
born at Glendorf, daughter of Herman H. and
Elizabeth Mary Recker. They have two
children, Charlie and Bennie the former born
Feb. 5, 1873.

ROBERT J. LITTLE
- one of the most industrious and successful farmers
and stock-raisers of the township, was born in
Crawford county, Ohio, June 2, 1835, and with his
parents, Robert and Elizabeth (Fissle)
Little, settled in this county in 1858.
His wife, Annie, daughter of Francis
and Francoise (Raclot) Noirot,
was born in France, and they were married in this
county, Aug. 28, 1862. They have had seven
children, of whom six are living: Alexander,
born June 16, 1863, died same day;
Elizabeth, May 14, 1864; Nicholas, Nov.
1, 1865; Joseph, July 29, 1867; Mary A.,
Dec. 8, 1869; William H., Dec. 19, 1871;
Robert J., July 3, 1876 Postoffice,
Pleasant Bend, Henry county, Ohio.

J. L. H. LONG |

ISAAC LYTEL - son of
David and Susannah (Solomon) Lytel, was born
in Allen county, Ohio, Nov. 16, 1844, was married in
that county, June 12, 1866, and settled in this
county in 1877. His wife, Mary,
daughter of John and Orzillah (Minnis) Baker,
was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, Mar. 23, 1844.
They have a family of six children: Harry
G., born Aug. 26, 1867; George W., Sept.
23, 1869; Orillah E., Sept. 28, 1871;
Sarah E., Nov. 6, 1873; Carrie L., Jan.
13, 1875; John W., Sept. 10, 1878. His
grandfather, Solomon, was in the
Revolutionary war. Business, saw-milling.
