HENRY J. RADER -
who settled in this county in 1873, is a son of
James and Mary (Dayringer) Rader, and was
born in Hancock county, Ohio, June 11, 1838.
His wife, Lydia A., whose parents, Ephraim
and Anna (Thomson) Peters, came to Ohio in 1836,
was born in Hancock county, Dec. 9, 1842. They
were married in that county, Nov. 22, 1860, and have
had seven children: Annie, born Sept.
18, 1861, resides in Hancock county; Mary A.,
Dec. 25, 1863; Prudence J., Jan. 20, 1864;
Hortense, August, 1866; Willie, Mar. 22,
1870; Gaylord M. and Garnett A.
(twins), Dec. 9, 1874. He has served two years
as township trustee. His grandfather, Rader,
served as a musician under General Hull.
He served in the war of the Rebellion in Company B,
Twenty-first Regiment O. V. I., was in a number of
skirmishes, and received injuries at Sandy Valley,
Kentucky, on account of which he receives a pension.
His brother, James, was a private in Company
G of the same regiment, and died during the war from
disease. Business, farmer.
